This is one of the most exciting times in a brides life, whether you have been dreaming of this since you were a little girl or it is the next item on the to-do list, here are our top tips to make the experience as seamless as possible!

SET YOUR BUDGET Decide early on your budget for the dress, ensure when you are researching and shopping that the dresses you try on are within your budget! Don’t forget to factor in alteration costs to this as generally speaking most brides need alterations made to their dress before the big day!

START SHOPPING EARLY Depending on lead times dresses can take anywhere between 4 to 9 months to make and ship. So give yourself plenty of time and shop early for your dress. Some designers offer a rush service but this is at an additional cost!

RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH! Pin as many dresses on Pinterest, look up brands online and on Instagram. Do as much research as you can to figure out the style you want and then research the bridal stores in your area that stock the brands you love! Save your favourites to your wedding dress board or Instagram collection to show your stylist at your bridal appointments.

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR SAMPLE SALES Bridal stores offer sample sales at different times during the year so keep an eye out on your favourite stores s you ma get your designer dress at a fraction of the price!

MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENTS Call the bridal stores you want to visit and make appointments, a top tip is to shop on a weekday if you can. The stores are less busy and when you are perusing the rails there will be space to really look at each dress.

Also make a day of it, factor in a bridal squad lunch and really enjoy spending time your tribe!

CHOOSE YOUR TRIBE WISELY For the dress shopping experience it is advisable to bring your closest like your Mom and your sister, or your best friend etc. You want to surround yourself with positive, uplifting vibes and make sure everyone is aware that the day is about finding your perfect dress! Do check with the bridal store how many guests you can bring as this may be the deciding factor!

HAVE AN OPEN MIND Chances are this is your first time trying on a wedding dress so have an open mind and trust your stylist! Try on as many options as you can so you can really appreciate the best style for you!

REMEMBER THE CLIMATE FOR YOUR DESTINATION WEDDING Choose an appropriate fabric and style for your dress to ensure yo will be comfortable in the humidity on you wedding day. If you always imagined a ball gown remember it may not be right if you are planning a beach wedding!

SHOP TRUE TO YOUR SIZE Even if you plan to lose a few pounds before our wedding day, shop to your current size. It is much easier to make alterations to a dress that needs to be taken in than one that is snug.

BRING HEELS AND THE RIGHT UNDERWEAR For your appointment bring your own heels, this way you will be comfortable trying on dresses and make sure the heel height is similar to what you plan to wear on the day! Also wear the right underwear – it is recommended to wear a strapless bra and nude thong, bring your Spanx also.

DON’T WEAR FAKE TAN A lot of stores appreciate that you do not wear fake tan or heavy make up to your appointments. This is a courtesy to ensure the dresses are clean for the next bride!

REMEMBER TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS Call your airline before hand to check travel arrangements for your dress. You don’t want to have additional costs to factor in at a later date!

Last and possibly the most important …. ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE!!!
